Old Man Emu suspension available for 2010 Toyota 4Runner

Pangaea Expeditions recently named the new Toyota 4Runner as one of the best overlanding platforms currently available in North America, and it just got better with the availability of the Old Man Emu suspension from ARB. The Australian-built Old Man Emu suspensions set the standard for high-value, well-built and engineered aftermarket suspension systems for expedition-type vehicles.

The OME suspension is available with your choice of light load, medium load (bumper, no winch) or heavy load (bumper and winch) springs with Nitrocharger-Sport struts in the front and medium load (unspecified load), 440 lb. constant load, or 880 lb. constant load rear springs with either medium or heavy Nitrocharger-Sport shocks. Each setup will give 3″ of lift at the designed weight loading.

Features of the Old Man Emu Suspension System for the new (2010+) Toyota 4Runners include:

  • 3″ lift over factory vehicle height
  • High performance Old Man Emu Strut and Shock absorbers featuring increased open length and model specific valving for improved control and comfort
  • Complete Old Man Emu Suspension consists of front coil springs, front struts, rear coil springs, rear shocks and optional rear shock guards

A pdf list of all Toyota 4Runner ARB products can be found on the ARB USA vehicle application guide.

An advantage of the OME kits is that they’re designed to work with minimal hassle and without compromising vehicle handling or over-stressing driveline components. While the days of front and rear solid axles are numbered, it is good to see aftermarket options available for fully independent suspension vehicles and specifically designed to address the needs of overland travelers.
