La Ruta Maya 2011 Announced

Some expeditions are once-in a-lifetime trips that can never be duplicated. However, some of those once-in-a-lifetime trips are so amazing that they must be duplicated.

Pangaea Expeditions is proud to announce such an expedition with La Ruta Maya 2011, our 10th Anniversary Expedition to Belize and Guatemala. Starting July 23, 2011, Pangaea Expeditions will lead an exclusive group of travelers on a self-drive adventure-of-a-lifetime. Departing from southern Texas, for 15 days the expedition will travel down the beautiful eastern coast of Mexico and into the heart of the Mayan world of Central America.

Adventurers, driving their own 4×4 vehicles, will visit many of the classic Mayan ruins including Mexico’s crown jewel Palenque; Caracol and Xunantunich in Belize and the legendary Tikal in Guatamala. Along the way, participants will have the chance to explore the vast virgin rainforests of Central America, teeming with wildlife, canoe into the heart of Mayan burial caves and traverse the rainforest canopy by zip-line.

The expedition will give participants the opportunity to camp amid the legendary beaches and jungles of La Ruta Maya, as well as stay at some of the world’s finest ecolodges including Francis Ford Coppola’s Blancaneaux Lodge, located in the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest of Belize.

Space is limited for this expedition and spots are expected to fill up quickly. Click here to learn more about La Ruta Maya 2011.
