Jeep Announces New Diesel Engines for 2011

AutoBlog has revealed that Jeep will be announcing new powertrains for the 2011 Jeep lineup at the 2010 Paris Auto Show. Among the highlights is an updated 2.8 CRD diesel engine, the engine Jeep teased North Americans with by putting it in the Liberty for 2005 and 06 model years (which we chose as the base vehicle for our newest project).

The newer, cleaner diesel motor will have 200 bhp and over 300 lb/ft of torque (output will vary depending on vehicle and transmission). The Wrangler will also benefit from start-stop technology which Jeep  says will increase fuel economy by 13% while reducing emissions by 14%.

The new drivetrain will be available in Grand Cherokee and the JK Wrangler. Sadly, the CRD will not be available here in the states.
