Black Dragon Canyon

San Rafael Swell, Utah

About 20 miles west of Green River, Utah, a sudden and dramatic upthrust of rock seems to appear from the desert floor. This rift, known as the San Rafael Swell contains a wide variety of interesting geography including dramatic slot canyons riddled with petroglyphs from a time when the Anasazi lived here.

Access to Black Dragon Canyon is acheived by turning off on a small dirt road directly off of I-70, just west of mile Marker 145. Just over a mile down the trail, you will encounter a well-marked sign and turn off to the left for Black Dragon Canyon.
